 These pendants are set in silver, sizes are approximate 4 x 6 mm thru 5 x 7 mm. Availble material is Iolite, Adalusite, Rhodolite Garnet, Sphene, Zircon, Diopside.

 

Iolite was discovered in 1813 by Louis Cordier. AKA is Water Sapphire or Cordierite. Color is purple and main locations is Australia, Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, with a hardness of 7-7.5.

 

Sphene forms in sparkling crystals and when it is cut it can have a higher rate of dispersion than diamonds. It is also known as Titanite. Its hardness is 5-5.5, colors are orange and brown. Main locations are Afghanistan, Brazil, Myanmar, Australia.

 

Andalusite can appear in different colors from different angles. Named for its location’s sake of Andalusia Spain. However, it was later determined the location of discovery was EL Cardoso. Color is Pink, Brown, Yellow, Green, White. Hardness is 6.5-7.5.

 

Zircon has a high dispersion. Some Zircons are known to be radioactive and must be treated to stabilize them. Colors are White, Yellow, Red, Blue, Green; can be found in Australia, China, Madagascar, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand. Hardness is 7.5.

 

Diopside comes in a few colors of Green, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Brown, White. Hardness is 5.5-6.5; some white specimens will glow blue-white under short wave UV light.

 

Garnet there are several types of garnet. The most commonly seen variety garnet is Almandine which is the classic deep red color. Harness is 7-8. Found worldwide, in the US you can go garnet hunting in Montana. The Garnet has several mythologies and has been used around the world for 1000’s of years.
