This Raw Heklaite is approximately 57 x 40 mm; thickness is approximately 30 mm, weight is approximately 70 grams. This is piece is dyed a light blue; it is post mining analog from Bartow, Florida.
Heklaite is a Sodium, Potassium Fluoride species discovered in 2008. Waste areas a phosphate mine had ponded water which allowed the crystals to grow. These have been found in nature on the cents at the Hakla Volcano in Iceland. The Florida species grows natural but not, as man has intervened with the enviroment, therefor these specimens would not be consider or are not consider truly natural. They are beautiful all the same.
